How Therapy Works

We’ll start where you are. We’ll talk about what’s been happening in your life lately and how that’s been affecting you and your important relationships. I’ll then explore your family of origin and talk through childhood, relationships, career and significant events that have occured. For couples and families, I'll talk to each member individually to understand each person's perspective on the dynamics & challenges This will really allow me to understand YOU, within the context of your world.

Then, we’ll start to explore the emotions and experiences that are problematic for you and learn how they came to be. Connecting them with overarching themes and patterns. This is the stage that helps us dive into the background work of your goals in therapy.

By using an integrative approach that best fits your needs, I’ll help you start taking steps and learning skills that can be applied to your everyday life. This may include learning how to express and communicate your emotions and needs, setting boundaries and/or finding coping skills that will help you create the person, couple or family you want to be. We will continue to build on these skills and strategies until you become more comfortable in your vulnerability and become more present with feelings and needs, leading to a more resilient and authentic you.
